This may not be an error. A "both" is a cavity in the ground, often made of clay that is hardened or otherwise conditioned and used for bathing. People of much older civilizations would bathe in them. Really only archaeologists and others that might study culture, language and translations would know that.
But I can see the dilemma, a possible typo for "bath".
